ISLAMIC, Time of the Rashidun. Pseudo-Byzantine types. Fals (Bronze, 21 mm, 2.84 g, 11 h), uncertain mint, circa 29-49 AH / 650-670 AD. Two bearded imperial busts facing, wearing crowns with crosses; above, cross between crescent and star. Rev. Large M in center; in left field, A/N; in right field, N/N; above cross; below Γ and pellet. CNG E-Auction 345 (2015), 582. Goodwin&Gyselen p. 49, 10 var. (without crescent and star on the obverse but with an uncertain letter above M instead of a cross on the reverse). Extremely rare. Repatinated and somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.
